This year the charity's aim is to raise £1 million to transform the opportunities of children, families and individuals. With these funds the National Literacy Trust will support people from disadvantaged communities across the UK to develop the skills they need.

£60 can recruit and train a mentor to prepare disadvantaged teenagers for employment.
£100 can support our unique research into the barriers individuals face and how we can best help them gain literacy skills.
£250 can fund a class of children to take part in a reading programme with their local football club.
£500 can help 10 families discover reading for pleasure and learn new skills in sharing books.
